Description

KH Plus easily increases the carbonate hardness of the pond water. This stimulates the growth of oxygen plants and the development of micro-organisms. A good CH-value prevents acidification of the pond.

Soft pond water, having a CH value (= acid binding capacit, also referred to as carbonate hardness, expressed in DH) lower than 5 °DH can easily become acid. Continuous rainfall will intensify this process. Especially in autumn and winter this can result in death of fish. Also the growth and development of oxygen producing plants will be inhibited at a too low CH value.

A healthy and stable pond environment has a carbonate hardness ranging from 6 to 8 °DH. Regular inspection (4 to 5 times a year) of the KH value is therefore desired. If the value will decrease below 5 °DH, measures have to be taken. With the help of Velda KH Plus the carbonate hardness can be increased without any problem.
